0322 St John the Forerunner with Chalice

Here St John the Forerunner is with the wings of an angel as a messenger of God. Here he holds a paten dish on which lies a naked Christ Child symbolising The Lamb of God of the Eucharist. He also holds a scroll. Although in this example the inscription is illegible, the usual one is John 1:29. “Look! The lamb of God who taketh away the sins of the world”.  .
